Learning to Love Your Greens

So you’re all grown up now and still avoiding those dark leafy greens you used to push around your plate as a kid?? It’s time to wise up and embrace these wonderfully nutrient-rich ingredients and enjoy the sheer variety they come in.

When we talk about “greens” we mean everything from broccoli to bok choy, collards to kale, dandelion to endive, argula to – well, you get the point. There are so many amazing greens to choose from depending on where you live and the season.

For this cycle, we've taken the freshest wild barramundi and paired it up with kale, chard and spinach to boost a dish that Popeye would be eager to feast on. Some of the nutritional benefits of all greens include high levels of calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous, zinc and vitamins A, C, E and K. They are chock full of fiber, folic acid, and many other micronutrients and phytochemicals.

Why should you incorporate more leafy greens into your overall lifestyle?

How about:

·      Blood purification properties (i.e. “detoxification”)

·      Cancer prevention

·      Improved circulation

·      A strengthened immune system

Be adventurous! Try all the different types of greenery you see in the markets. Change it up with different preparations and complements. We like playing with different herbs, spices, vinegars and oils to bring out the different flavors each green has to offer.

Most importantly, learn to love ‘em. Your body will thank you.
